Next Service Weekend: April 18 & 19 2020
Thanks to all who participated in our Fall 2019 service weekend – check back soon for photos! Now we are busily planning activities for our Spring event, happening April 18 & 19. More details to come.
Young and old, singles and families – all are welcome! Congregations in Service includes people from many faiths – Jewish, Christian, Unitarian-Universalists, Bahá’í, Islamic, and Roman Catholics. We also welcome those who are not members of a religious institution.
Examples of typical projects include:
- No-sew quilts for homeless shelters and the Justice Center
- Decorating pillowcases for shelters and children’s homes
- Creating greeting cards for nursing homes
- Painting glass jars as house-warming gifts for formerly homeless/refugees
- Project with the Savannah Tree Foundation
- Beach cleanup on Tybee Island
- Painting project at the Rape Crisis Center
- Final touch-up before opening of the Family Justice Center
- Project with Union Mission
- General onsite maintenance at Pegasus Riding Academy (equine therapy facility)
- Litter cleanup at Daffin Park
- Baking goodies for various homeless organizations
- Assembling bags and baking cookies for Intercity Night Shelter
- Painting glass jars as house-warming gifts for formerly homeless/refugees
