Upcoming Events

Our next Congregations in Service weekend will be April 14-15, 2018. We’ll have indoor and outdoor projects for all abilities and skill levels both days, with opportunities to serve on Saturday morning or Sunday afternoon. 

Saturday, April 14
Meet at First Presbyterian Church at 8 am for continental breakfast & short worship service. (View Map)
Dismiss to work sites.
Reconvene at First Christian Church 11:30am-12pm for barbecue/hotdog lunch (View Map).

Sunday, April 15
Meet at Congregation Mickve Israel 12:30 pm for pizza lunch and short worship service. Dismiss to work sites. (View Map)

Young and old, singles and families – all are welcome! Congregations in Service includes people from many faiths – Jewish, Christian, Unitarian-Universalists, Bahá’í, Islamic, and Roman Catholics. We also welcome those who are not members of a religious institution.

Anticipated Saturday projects include:

  • Rape Crisis Center – gardening project
  • Tybee Island – litter clean up at south end of island
  • Area shelters – making no-sew quilts and decorating pillowcases
  • Area nursing homes – creating greeting cards
  • Safe Shelter – gardening project
  • Meals on Wheels – pet food delivery
  • Wesley Community Center – cleaning classrooms
  • Habitat for Humanity ReStore – sorting donations and stocking shelves
  • Coastal Pet Rescue – building a wash station cover

Anticipated Sunday projects include:

  • Ronald McDonald House – baking cookies for families
  • Pegasus Riding Academy (equine therapy) – painting project
  • Daffin Park – litter clean up
  • Hospice Savannah – Ice Cream Social
  • Nursing home visitation with St. James Children’s Choir and Unitarian Universalist Singers
  • Area shelters – making no-sew quilts and decorating pillowcases
  • Inner City Night Shelter – assembling treat bags

Additionally, we’ll be collecting items requested by some of our partner agencies. So please bring any of the following donations with you on Saturday or Sunday:

  • Pet items for the patients of Hospice Savannah, who are allowed to bring their pets when they move into the facility.
  • Men’s jeans, shoes, boxers and bikes for the Community of St. Joseph.
